- a brief history of strange attractor - as @ 2008

STRANGE ATTRACTOR is the award-winning writing/filmmaking team of J.T. Velikovsky and Adrian Van de Velde.

They began writing screenplays together when they met in 1995, as 3-year full time students at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Australia's national training centre for media. They have been writing together ever since.

Their most recent short film collaboration, HERO, directed by Adrian, screened in the St Kilda Film Festival and Edinburgh Film Festival.

Their first short film, the sci-fi action-thriller Rock et Man, which Adrian also directed, went on to win Best Film at the 1997 International Film Schools Congress.

Their work has screened on Foxtel, ABC TV Australia, SBS TV, and in countless film festivals.

After Rock et Man's success, Fox Studios commissioned the duo to develop a 5-season, 26-episode sci-fi action thriller television series. Subsequently they have also written other spec screenplays in the sci-fi action-thriller genre.

The team has also worked with the most successful producer in the world, Robert Watts (producer of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogies) writing guru Linda Seger, and have successfully pitched to Chris Vogler (author of The Writers Journey) and Bill Mechanic (President and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment, producer of Titanic).

Aside from writing, Adrian Van de Velde is one of Australia's most successful TV commercials and music video directors. He also holds an Environmental Science Degree, and was a member of the Australian 1994 World Champion Debating team. Adrian is a successful music composer, and has released several music albums under the pseudonym BABY ATOM. Adrian's 2000 single release Snowdrop was used in the film feature film Lantana, and also in the TV series Dawson's Creek.

J.T. Velikovsky is one of Australia's leading speakers on Game and Film Screenwriting. He has worked as a writer of TV, film and video games - and also as a professional Script Assessor and Story Analyst for the major film studios in Australia (Fox, PolyGram/Universal etc).

J.T. has guest-lectured in Game Design, and Game and Film Screenwriting at Flinders, UniSA and Charles Sturt Universities, and various other institutions - including the Australian Game Developers Conference, and the National Screenwriter's Conference.

J.T. was also a judge for the 2002 National Festival Awards for Writing - and was a speaker at the 2002 AdderCon (the Adelaide International Sci-fi Convention) and also the 2003 Adelaide International Film Festival.

Currently STRANGE ATTRACTOR is creating more film stories to watch during the Apocalypse.
